Thirteen days after the savage assassination of Professor Samuel Paty in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, horror struck again. This time, it attacked the peaceful men and women who came to pray this Thursday in the Notre-Dame de l’Assomption basilica in Nice. Men and women who have done nothing other than pray and meditate in a sacred place, welcoming and open to all without distinction.
The president of the Movement for the Self-determination of Kabylia and Anavad (Kabyle Provisional Government), Ferhat Mehenni, wishes to show his support and solidarity to the families of the victims. He wishes to condemn in the strongest way these acts which have unfortunately become common in the world in general and in France in particular.
Kabyles, who have found themselves targeted in the name of a deadly ideology by the madmen of Islam, have been the prime victims in what is known as the black decade of the 1990s in Algeria. Hundreds of Kabyle citizens, professors, doctors, journalists, were thus eliminated under deliberately atrocious and savage conditions in order to show the determination of their perpetrators and sponsors to impose their laws.
Fundamentally secular Kabylia has paid and continues to pay a heavy price for its refusal to renounce its values of openness and respect for life and beliefs in a particularly hostile environment. That is why they today wishes to express their unreserved solidarity with the victims of these attacks.
